Thank you!

By Tim McAlpine

This past week was filled with emotion.

Absolute glee: We launched Young & Free Texas with TDECU.

Extreme disappointment: Discovering something that will challenge our new client.

Humbled beyond belief: Watching a passionate group of people come to our defense.

The social web and the underlying credit union community is an amazing place filled with really good people.

Thank you.

I had an e-mail from a friend who was curious about what the disappointment is. The disappointment has nothing to do with TDECU. Trey and the TDECU team have been great to deal with. The disappointment has to do with a similar program being launched in a nearby city.

My intent with this post was to publicly say thanks but I didn't want to get into the details and potentially put down another credit union's marketing activities. In hindsight, the post might come off as odd without all of the details.

Please e-mail me at tmcalpine at currency marketing dot ca if you have any questions. Thanks again.

Well, there really is no differentiation. Anything innovative WILL be taken up by everyone else (Case in point: Bankvue rewards checking). I liked the Young&Free concept, and it's honestly quite surprising your first challenger is coming along this far into the game.

Haha - I had someone ask me at lunch today what this post was about, too. I hadn't read my feeds this AM, so I thought I had pissed you off with my being a tough client ;)

Tim,

Credit unions are masters at the R & D - rip-off and duplicate....but nobody can copy your DNA!! It's your brand and you're amazing....so is Trey. One of a kind.

A say "bring it" other Texas CU....
