He is a former Director of Extension at St. Francis Xavier University and prior to his university work he has 25 years experience as a co-operative manager, member of numerous co-operative and credit union boards of directors. He is a co-operative business consultant and has been an advisor to two cabinet ministers and the Prime Minister on regional development. His research interests cover a range of co-operative management issues and he has spoken widely, in several countries, on various aspects of co-operative business. He is currently involved in a major Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded project exploring accounting in co-operatives.
I met Tom at the World Credit Union Conference in Calgary last year.
