Is your credit union making 5th graders smarter?
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chilliwack, BC, April 7, 2020—Currency Marketing announces super-engaging financial education materials designed credit union members aged six to 10.
Is your credit union making 5th graders smarter?
According to the Oxford Review of Economic Policy, short videos and simple narratives have been proven to improve financial knowledge and motivation.* With the introduction of It’s a Money Thing Junior, credit unions now have the ability to not only connect with kids, but also to give them the tools to start thinking critically about earning, spending, saving and borrowing money.
“The idea for It’s a Money Thing Junior came from our subscribers,” said Larissa Walkiw, Creative Director at Currency Marketing, the firm behind the It’s a Money Thing financial education program for young adults. “Credit unions have been requesting material that they can take into a classroom setting, particularly in elementary schools.”
It’s a Money Thing is a program developed to educate 15- to 35-year-olds, but its topic base has now expanded to include a younger group: 6- to 10-year-olds.
The first of four It’s a Money Thing Junior topics is available now at: https://www.currencymarketing.ca/content-pack-jr1. The remaining three topics will be released by the end of 2020.
Innovative materials to engage the attention of 10-year-olds
“We use the term ‘super-engaging’ because it’s the only program to combine unique storytelling, multiple learning styles, multiple teaching methods and age-appropriate activities to appeal to 5th grade students,” explained Tim McAlpine, Founder & CEO of Currency Marketing. “It makes teaching easier and ensures that anyone can effectively present these topics in a classroom.”
