Rockstar status

I am a self-confessed reality TV junkie. It all started with Survivor season 1. Since then, other favourites have been American Idol and The Apprentice. It's interesting to watch unknown folks clamour for their 15 minutes.

My latest addiction is Rockstar Supernova. This show is right up my alley—it brings back my head banging 80's youth with Motley Crue's Tommy Lee, Metallica's Jason Newsted, and Guns and Roses Gilby Clarke and adds in all the drama of American Idol without all of the candy-coated glitz.

Anyway, the point of my blog is that my chosen profession doesn't really offer any big rockstar moments—or at least I didn't think it did. Over the past four years, we helped Envision Financial brand, name, and launch its new mortgage product, Redfrog. It has been very successful for Envision. My wife and I switched to this great product and a few weeks ago, we were issued new Redfrog MemberCards.

This new debit card elicits a positive response almost everytime I use it. At the grocery store, the woman at the deli said "That's a cool card, I haven't seen one like that before." At a gas station, the clerk said, "That's the coolest card I've ever seen." At the department store, the cashier commented, "Nice card." My three-year old son said, "Hey Dad, Redfrog!"

These folks might not be Simon Cowell, but they have all seen a lot of cards (other than my son). I haven't had the nerve to tell them I designed it yet, but I am working up to my true rockstar moment.
