Contest Rules

No purchase necessary. This contest is void in whole or in part where prohibited by law. To complete your entry you must read and agree to the following rules. Participation in this search contest constitutes full and unconditional agreement and acceptance of these rules. The search competition is presented by Currency Marketing (the “Presenter”).

The It's a Money Thing 365-Day Content Adventure Contest (the “Contest”) runs from May 16 to June 16, 2016. The Presenter has the right to change the dates.

Phase 1: Submission Period

A. Time Period:

The entry period begins at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) on May 16, 2016 and ends at 3:00 p.m. PT time on June 3, 2016.

B. Eligibility Criteria:

This Competition is open only to credit unions with head offices located in the United States or Canada. The competition is not open to any other type of business including credit union leagues, associations, foundations or credit union service organizations.

C. How to Enter:

To enter go to www.currencymarketing.ca/contest during the Submission Period and fully complete an online entry form.

In the event of a dispute, entries shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the entry (the “Applicant”).

All applications are subject entirely to the discretion of the Presenter, whose decisions are final. Each entry that meets the criteria above and that is submitted in accordance with these Rules, will become eligible for Phase Two: Selection Period.

Only one entry per credit union will be accepted. Multiple entries will be disqualified. Chances of winning depend on the number and entries received.

Phase 2: Selection Period

The Selection Period will begin following the Submission Period.

D. Identifying the Two Winners:

All entries will will be judged by a panel consisting of Barbara Bean, CEO of Cal Poly Federal Credit Union; Kathy Lavorato, Operations & Compliance Manager of Kingston Community Credit Union; James Marshall, Manager of The Cooperative Trust; and Hope Schau, Filene Research Fellow and the Gary M. Munsinger Chair in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Eller College of Management, University of Arizona. Our judging panel will evaluate and score each entry.

The judges will be looking most closely at the answers to these three questions:

  • How will you use the content?
  • Why should your credit union win?
  • What are your goals? 

Judges will score each entry on a scale of 1 to 10 in the following four categories:

  • Overall strategy
  • Creativity of plan
  • Potential impact of plan
  • Credit union need

The two entries with the highest combined scores will be declared the winners.

The winners agree to provide content for articles to be published on the Currency Marketing website during the 12 months following the contest.

Phase 3: Awarding the Prizes

E. Prizes:

The two winners of the It's a Money Thing 365-Day Content Adventure Contest will receive a free one-year subscription to the It's a Money Thing Financial Education Content Program valued at $6,000 USD.

The prize is a one-year subscription to use the content that is delivered on a monthly basis. If the winning credit union wishes to continue subscribing after the first free 12 months, there are affordable plans available. If the winning credit union does not wish to subscribe after the first free 12 months, then that credit union will need to discontinue the use of the product. The Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable. The Prize is not redeemable for cash. If a potential winner cannot accept the Prize as awarded, the entry will be forfeited and another eligible credit union may be selected. Any costs associated with accepting the Prize shall be the sole responsibility of the winner.

Other Matters that are Important to Read 

F. No responsibility is assumed by the Presenter, its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, its respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, for any disruption to telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software or failure of any entry to be received because of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, as well as lost, incomplete, destroyed, misdirected, illegible or late entries which for any reason are not received.

G. No Prize substitutions will be made, except for the right of the Presenter to make a Prize substitution of equivalent or greater value in the event the Prize, or any portion thereof, is unavailable for any reason.

H. The Presenter reserves the right to modify or cancel this Contest at any time including, without limitation, in the event of technical corruption, virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or any other technical problems, which may arise from time-to-time beyond the control of the Presenter, destroying the integrity of this Contest. No liability or responsibility is assumed by the Presenter, resulting from user attempts to participate in this Contest or if required, download any information necessary to participate in this Contest. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry.

I. By entering this Contest, participants agree to hold the Presenter, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, their respective directors, officers, employees and assigns, harmless from and against any and all claims and liability arising out of or in any way connected with the operation of this Contest and use of a Prize. Participants of this Contest assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Contest or use or redemption of a Prize. By participating in this Contest, entrants agree to be bound by the Rules and the decisions of the Contest judges, which are final.

J. The Presenter reserves the right to disqualify any credit union whom it finds to be in violation of these official Rules or tampering with the entry process. The Presenter reserves the right to refuse an entry from a credit union whose eligibility is in question or who has been disqualified or is otherwise ineligible to enter.

K. This Contest and these Rules, shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of British Columbia, Canada.

L. Any litigation must be initiated in British Columbia.

M. Privacy Statement: By entering this Contest, each entrant also consents to the Presenter, its agents and/or representatives, storing, using and disclosing the information submitted or provided with each entry for the purpose of administering this Contest and the prize in accordance with the Presenter’s privacy policy at currencymarketing.ca/legal.

N. Caution: Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or interfere with the legitimate operation of the search contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and the sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and/or other relief from all responsible persons to the fullest extent permitted by law.
